Million Solar Roofs Bill Signed into Law 

After three years, the Million Solar Roofs bill, SB 1, authored by Sen. Kevin Murray, was signed into law.  SB 1 compliments the California Solar Initiative established by the Public Utilities Commission in January and puts California on track toward building a million solar roofs in the next ten years.

California Public Utilities Commission Approved $3.2 Billion Solar Program

On January 12, 2006, the California Public Utilities Commission approved the California Solar Initiative (CSI), committing a combined $3.2 billion in incentive funds to drive consumers toward solar power over the next 11 years. Los Angeles Joined State In Adopting The Strongest Renewable Energy Standard in Nation

In 2004, the Los Angeles City Council passed language restricting electricity generated by Hoover Dam from inclusion in the city's recently adopted 20 percent by 2017 Renewables Portfolio Standard (RPS) thereby joining the rest of the state in adopting the nation's strongest clean energy goal. Landmark Clean Energy Law Won

In the wake of the energy crisis, we convinced legislators to adopt the California Clean Energy Law in 2002. The law—the nation’s strongest such law—requires investor-owned utilities to produce 20 percent of their electricity from clean sources by 2017. More.
